100 Words or Less: (500) Days of Summer
Any issues I have with (500) Days of Summer are usually forgiven by the fact that this is an inventive, entertaining romantic comedy – a concept completely lost in Hollywood nowadays. This movie is a treat stylistically, and I fully appreciate the risks that it takes visually and in the storytelling (the dance sequence is perfect is so many ways), though that is also where I find some stumbling blocks in it. The concept of interviewing Tom Hansen and his friends about love is not as effective and I could do without the wise-beyond-her-years sister. But don’t get me wrong, this is one of the best of 2009.
