100 Words Or Less: “The Running Man”

Sure, the film’s look hasn’t aged well. What has aged well, however, is the film’s concept. Never before has our society been more obsessed with gratuitous violence and reality TV. With our overcrowded prisons and inflated deficit, a show were prison lifers face death for a chance at freedom isn’t unimaginable. Additionally, this film always knew what it was — a B-movie romp with an A-list budget and star. Arnold Schwarzenegger rips off more one-liners than ever, and Family Feud‘s Richard Dawson kills it as The Running Man‘s host. If you’re a fan of Ah-nuld-sized action, this one “hits the spot.”
