Ten Incredibly Creepy Movie Scenes

5. “The Girl in the TV” from The Ring

Damn VHS tapes. I always knew they were evil. Especially the ones that are a harbinger of death to anyone who views them. Maybe I’m in the minority, but corpse-like kids crawling around give me the willies. I’ll watch movies like The Ring, but not when I’m in a good mood. I can do without the buzzkill.

4. “The Nurse Station” from The Exorcist III

It would be easy to slap a portion of The Exorcist on this list. It’s creepy from start to stop. The third chapter in the series is underrated, in my estimation. The following scene manages to send a shiver down my spine every time. I’m aware what’s coming, but it still delivers a good WTF jump.

3. “Don’t Go In There” from Elephant

Although not classified as horror, Gus Van Sant’s echoing of the 1999 Columbine Massacre is as terrifying as any hacker-slasher-monster tale. The calculated matter-of-fact method by which the teen killers go about their business is beyond unsettling. It’s madness at 24 frames per second.

2. “They’re Here” from Poltergeist

When Heather O’ Rourke uttered those two famous words, many a film patron started heading for the exits. Supernatural cinema would never be the same again. The fact that the menacing apparitions dwell inside a television is a not-so-subtle hint that the boob tube might be bad news. We get it, Hollywood.

1. “The Hallway” from The Shining

I’d be remiss if I didn’t include my all-time favorite horror film by my all-time fave director. The Shining oozes creepiness like few other films in its genre. Poor little Danny Torrance;  he is one effed up lad. I used to ride my Big Wheel around the house too. Luckily I never ran across two dead girls looking for playmates.

So, what are some creepy movie scenes that freak you out? We here at FlickSided want to know. Don’t be shy. We promise not to chop you to pieces with an axe if we don’t agree.
