100 Words Or Less: “Capote”

Philip Seymour Hoffman won an Oscar for his portrayal of Truman Capote in this 2005 biopic of the late author. Following the years of research conducted whilst writing his most famous novel, In Cold Blood, the film tells two stories: that of the author and that of his subject. Viewers are treated to a sympathetic, but seemingly honest, depiction of Capote, both as a writer and an individual, and an equally multidimensional image of the murderers in his novel. Director Bennett Miller takes his time painting his portrait, but does so in a manner that keeps audiences invested.
