Michael Bay vs. Roman Polanski (Infographic)
A couple days ago famed film critic Roger Ebert set off a firestorm on Twitter when he tweeted that Michael Bay was remaking Roman Polanski’s classic flick Rosemary’s Baby.
Actually, this rumor is nothing new. It was first floated back in 2008 when Bay’s production company Platinum Dunes was negotiating with Paramount about doing an update. Luckily, nothing came of it. It could be Ebert got his hands on some secret info not yet released to the public. Thus far, there has been no announcement from Hollywood that anything is in the works.
Of course that won’t stop me from doing a side-by-side comparison of Michael Bay and Roman Polanski’s careers. So, here it is. (Click to enlarge image.)

The Ninth Gate was Roman Polanski’s BEST film.
You should be ashamed of yourselves for downplaying his masterpiece. Johnny Depp made his career with that movie. Incredible story, acting, and soundtrack.
It was almost funny, the way how you repeatedly wrote about Polanski as a rapist, but not quite.
Anyway, isn’t this whole entry a little bit pointless? did you really have nothing interesting to write about Polanski or Bay?
I wasted a minute of my time.
And the plurar forms “raping underage girls”, “sodomizing them”, suggest there were more than one, which is wrong. A weak manipulation Mr Scott. Just jump on the bandwagon on Polanki bashers, for the sake of bashing the guy.
On the side: Making people look more evil than they really are makes You feel so much better about yourself? Geez. Go canonize Yourself, and purge the world from the child molesting evil.
@mac and you wasted even more time by commenting. Congratulations, you win! What do you win? That feeling of self satisfaction after you were slightly annoyed and you let everyone know just how you felt.
@Meeeh Roman Polanski is a rapist, and no matter how great his art may be, that doesn’t diminish the severity of his crimes or his guilt.
What a piece of crap. I’ll surely add your site to my spam list.
mac and bigmac can quit wasting peoples time by belittling them. his escape from crime is legendary by fleeing to the armpit of europe. too bad for the hollywood curse on him though
Statutory Rape and Violent Rape are two different things. Polanski had consensual sex with a girl that was barely underage during the times, and at an age where 15 years prior in America was a common age for marriage. Her parents started the rape charge. Since then the girl has apologized for the trouble she caused with Polanski. The mans wife was murdered by Charles Manson. Maybe he wasn’t making the best choices, but he wasn’t causing harm and calling hm a rapist just makes him look like a monster.
@bigmac: Not what i’ve said. Mr Scott’s diagram suggests that we can call people who killed one person serial killers. How many times did Mr Polanski had sex with that girl? And with how many girls did he go to bed? ONE. So he’s not rapING underage girlS, druggING THEM and sodomizING THEM. The verbs and the plural form suggest he’s a recidivist still having sex with minors. Not true.
@anon He is a rapist. He raped and sodomized a 13 year old girl, the sex was not consensual, she was drugged, and even then she still told him no repeatedly.
So, if 15 was common for marriage at the time has nothing to do with his guilt. Was 13 a common age for rape?
@Meeeh So he’s not out raping children, he raped one child though. That’s still pretty horrible any way you slice it.
@bigmac: Did i say it’s not? No. I just hate when people see a grey door and paint it black. Reality is not binary. We can’t judge people with a boolean of true/false, and no matter what You did, and how many times, and them throw them in the same box. That’s it.
@bigmac: So he’s not out raping children, he raped one child though. That’s still pretty horrible any way you slice it.
Not as horrible as some of Michael Bay’s films
