Horror Movie Kill of the Week

Remember the TV show Project Greenlight? It was Matt Damon and Ben Affleck’s attempt to give ordinary folk a shot at feature filmmaking. Surviving only three seasons in the US, the series explored the difficulties of getting a movie from script to screen. The results were three finished films: Stolen Summer, The Battle of Shaker Heights and the flick I’m gonna talk about today, Feast.

As far as horror movies go, Feast falls into the category of B-grade shock and gore. It employs the tried and true Alien plot structure, whereas a group of individuals confined to one location must thwart a bevy of bloodthirsty beasties. It’s setting is a remote desert bar and the monsters are a cross between a Predator and a Sleestack.

The script is amusing, the violence over the top and the deaths gleefully gruesome. Overall, I’d give it one big bloody thumb up for being entertaining and somewhat original. For today’s ‘Kill of the Week,’ here’s a fun-filled beheading from 2005′s Feast.

Kinda reminds me of Samuel L. Jackson’s exit in Deep Blue Sea. Unexpected but hilarious.
