Kubrick Vs. Scorsese Mash-Up Video

Kubrick vs. Scorsese by Leandro Copperfield (via his Vimeo) is a brilliant video that given our love for the two auteurs absolutely had to appear on the site. Copperfield’s mash-up consists of 34 films and 500 scenes. It’s a very fitting tribute to two of the greatest directors of all time, and also shows similarities and differences in their respective careers. It’s also the perfect time for this comparison/appreciation piece, as Martin Scorsese, 67, is approaching the age Stanley Kubrick was when he died (70). I think my personal favorite part is the “Funny” cross-cutting scene between Peter Sellers in Dr. Strangelove and Joe Pesci in Goodfellas — classic! Jack Nicholson also serves as a nice touchstone due to his involvement in The Departed and The Shining. Just a great way to honor and reflect upon two of the greatest American directors who ever stepped on a set and said “action.”
