Breaking Up The Backlog

Every week the Hollywood machine spits out a steady stream of gossip, rumors and revelations. We at FlickSided would love to report them all, but a few will inevitably slip by our radar. In an effort to remedy these oversights, here are a handful of stories we placed on the back burner until now.

  • A site called Blue Sky Disney reported on Tuesday that Josh Hutcherson would be the next Spider-Man. I ignored it because I never heard of them before, but they apparently have a history of being dead-on with rumors. Not this time around. As everyone knows by now, Brit actor Andrew Garfield is the new web-slinger.
  • Meryl Streep is set to play former British Prime Minister Margaret Thatcher in an upcoming biopic called The Iron Lady. If anyone can do the role justice, it would be the incomparable Streep. She can easily pull off the accent and with some creative makeup, I guarantee she’ll be the spittin’ image of Madge.
  • What the hell is going on with Scream 4? Casting has been a veritable nightmare. The movie has already lost Lake Bell and Lauren Graham due to supposed scheduling conflicts and possible script changes. Producers are adding and subtracting more than a third-grade math teacher. Methinks karma is rearing its ugly head for foolishly deciding to reboot the Scream franchise. Does anyone really want to see another chapter? I sure as hell don’t.
  • Some prepubescent Texas teens were so scared by the Paranormal Activity 2 trailer that ran before Twilight: Eclipse, that Cinemark Theaters pulled it. I know, I know, ridiculous, right? It’s not remotely scary to anyone over 16. Nevertheless, we should be thanking these timid little gals for instigating the removal of a piece of sh*t trailer. I propose we ship them to theaters throughout the other 49 states and have them scream and wale to their hearts’ content. Then maybe the marketing team behind PA 2 will get off their asses and cut a teaser that actually looks spooky.
