Daniel Craig Joins The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo Remake

Daniel Craig may have had his license to kill revoked temporarily, but that won’t keep him from joining David Fincher’s much discussed remake of the Swedish blockbuster The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo. According to Hollywood Insider, Craig has agreed to play investigative journalist Mikael Blomkvist in a trilogy of films. I’m totally on board with this decision. Craig has both drama and action cred and will fit perfectly into the role of Blomkvist, a pragmatic loner who acts as lover and father figure to young Lisbeth Salander.

Now, the real question is which lucky actress will land the part of goth hacker Lisbeth? Fincher and Co. will screw the franchise if they choose the wrong chick. I’m sure Kristen Stewart will get a phone call; she’s the right age and has the look, but Lisbeth endures and dishes out some brutal punishment, so I’m not sure Stewart could pull it off. Personally, I love Mia Kirshner, who plays much younger than her age (35). However, the best bet might be to go with a relative unknown, which would help reinforce the mysterious nature of the Lisbeth character. At any rate, the search is on.

The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo is scheduled for a December 2011 release.
