See The Sorcerer’s Apprentice For Free
Riddle me this moviegoers: would you see Nicolas Cage’s latest sure to be suckfest The Sorcerer’s Apprentice if you didn’t have to cough up eight bucks? If you answered yes to that query, then you’ll love this news: Disney is offering buy-one-get-one-free tickets over at fandango.com. Order up a couple seats, enter the promotional code APPRENTICE, and presto, you get one gratis, while supplies last.
The only way I would see this flick is if Disney paid me. And I’m not talking about the price of one measly ticket either. I’m talkin’ at least twenty smackers. Then it might be worth my time. Maybe.
In all seriousness, this reeks of desperation on Disney’s part. The box office forecast for Apprentice is shaky at best, so I get the reasoning for offering a freebee. That being said, it’s summer — the season of tentpoles and blockbusters. The Mouse is basically admitting their flick is a POS by promoting this deal.
Despite a two day jump, there is no way Apprentice can compete with Chris Nolan’s Inception. The marketing team at Disney is obviously panicking. Battle stations are being manned. Damage control reports are flowing in. The hull has been breached. Oh well. That’s what happens when you hand Nic Cage the wheel to a sinking ship.
