Director Robert Rodriguez loves his movies cheap, dirty and wildly entertaining. A devoted fans of low budget grindhouse pictures from the 70s, the Sin City and Desperado visionary has returned once again with his unique brand of humor and action in Machete Kills, the follow-up to 2010’s Machete.
Open Road Films has released the first trailer for the film no one asked for but everyone will be going to see when it comes out.
It’s not trying to wind awards, and it looks like it will do exactly what it wants to do — entertain you in a way only Rodriguez can. With is signature style, he seems to once again have tapped into the action film campiness we all love to soak in while munching on some buttery popcorn while not having a care in the world.
IN a world of remakes, reboots and generally depressing films that serve as analogies for the way we treat the Earth and each other, Rodriguez comes out with Machete Kills which only has a message of buckle up and hunker down for some campy action fun.
The film boasts quite the cast too as Danny Trejo returns as the titular anti-hero while Mel Gibson, Charlie Sheen, Antonio Banderas, Lady Gaga and Damián Birchir are among the many cast in the film who are just looking for the fun time audiences will be when the film comes out.
It’s not a deep conceptual film, nor is it terribly political, but Machete Kills sells itself once again with the trailer and it could end up being one of the surprise successes of 2013.
