The follow up to Matthew Vaughn’s successful comic book film Kick-Ass is set to hit theaters this August and we got a glimpse at a second trailer for the film this week. The sequel sees the return of Kick-Ass and Hit-Girl as well as arrival of a new character, Colonel Stars and Stripes played by Jim Carrey.
Carrey takes on what seems to be a rather thick and goofy Brooklyn accent as the superhero and one can only hope that this is a return to comedic gold for a funny man who hasn’t been funny in years.
The plot revolves around Christopher Mintz-Plasse’s character who is trying to become the world’s first super villain after Kick-Ass takes down his father.
The first film took audiences by surprise as we didn’t really know what to expect, unless you were familiar with the comic book. But the sequel looks to build on what was created the first time around, although it will be absent director Matthew Vaughn who took a backseat as producer on Kick-Ass 2 as he’s currently busy digging his feet into the X-Men franchise as well as producing an upcoming Marvel Studios reboot of the Fantastic Four franchise as well.
