We already know that another Terminator movie is coming down the pipe, and we also know that Arnold Schwarzenegger is going to be in the film as well. However, we still don’t know who will be playing the character of The Terminator but MoviePilot.com may have some insight into who will do battle with whoever ends up getting cast.
According to the MoviePilot, a script may be currently being written with Dwayne Johnson in mind for the role of the main villain.
Rumors are circulating reporting that a script is being written specifically with Dwayne Johnson in mind to play the film’s villain. But that’s not it: Apparently, there are rumors that the film will take place in the 1940s or 1950s with Schwarzenegger playing a heroic figure close to Sarah Connor’s parents.
It’s no secret that the franchise is in serious need to get a breath of fresh air to liven things up after two failed sequels to Terminator 2: Judgement Day and while McG’s Terminator: Salvation wasn’t awful, it failed to please fans of the franchise. Johnson may not be the most critically accepted actor in cinema, but Christian Bale — an Academy award winner — couldn’t help Salvation so it’s likely that the new film needs to get back to being about story more than it is about acting.
Johnson is hot right now with his success in the Fast and Furious movies as well as his string of box office hits under his belt. While the idea of Johnson and Vin Diesel fighting filled seats in Fast Five, an even more attractive showdown is between The Rock and The Terminator.
