Disney has a lot of things on it’s plate moving forward, with their involvement in Star Wars headlining everything. But while we are stuck waiting until 2015 for the new adventure in a galaxy far, far away, Disney is rebooting one of it’s classic films as Cinderella is set to come out as a live action musical in 2015.
According to THR.com, Pitch Perfect star Anna Kendrick is in talks to play the titular role and the film could be massive with the other names it seems to be attracting to the project.
The project has attracted Meryl Streep, Johnny Depp, Chris Pine, Jake Gyllenhaal, James Corden, Emily Blunt, Tracey Ullman and Christine Baranski, all of whom are in various stages of negotiations to be part of the production.
Of course, we’re all most excited about Tracey Ullman being in the picture above all else. According to other reports, it seems Jake Gyllenhaal is in talks to star as the Prince while James Corden and Emily Blunt will play the Baker and his wife respectively.
Kendrick has seemingly gone the route of teenie-bopper films with her recent casting choices as films like Pitch Perfect and Twilight are departures from ore adult films like End of Watch and her breakthrough role in Up In The Air.
Still, she has an amazing voice and she looks like she’s in her early twenties which is a very valuable attribute for an actress in Hollywood to have. It may not be a film chasing an Academy Award on the surface but with talents like Kendrick, Depp, Gyllenhaal and others involved, the adaptation of the Broadway version of Cinderella looks like it might be a bigger hit with critics than expected.
