Michael Rosenbaum wants to play Lex Luthor again

Michael Rosenbaum, formerly of the long-running series Smallville, would like to reprise his role as Lex Luthor in the sequel to Man of Steel.

It’s not like he doesn’t have experience but then one starts to think about why Tom Welling wasn’t cast in the film. Same characters but not quite the same universe.

Rosenbaum tweeted the following yesterday:

The BuzzFocus article discusses Rosenbaum, John Glover (Lionel Luthor in Smallville), Bryan Cranston, Jon Hamm, Dean Norris, Michael Chiklis, Peter Dinklage, Joaquin Phoenix, Mark Strong, and Aidan Gillen.

Cranston is one that I would imagine many folks would like to see get cast in the role. He’s a character actor that can do comedy and drama. But, as the article suggests, will he be too busy to take on the role?

Strong is one another one who I feel would do a great job with the role. But then there’s the question of comic book movie overkill. He’s played a villain in Kick-Ass and a guy that turns into a villain in Green Lantern.

What do you think?
