Jacob's Ladder Set to Be Remade But Won't Copy Original Film

Hollywood loves to recycle old films and update them for modern audiences but while they appear to be remaking a cult horror classic, JoBlo.com is reporting that Jacob’s Ladder will be getting the remake treatment but the remake will be more of an homage than a carbon copy update.

Per JoBlo.com:

The producers are looking to make something more akin to an homage and not mimic the original. The plan is to contemporize the story with new situations and characters but still maintain a story that examines issues and poses existential questions.

The original film, which starred Tim Robbins, focused more on being a Vietnam War analogy and flashback film, the remake will obviously use an updated theme while still holding onto the core values of the source material.

Midnight Meat Train scribe Jeff Buhler is set to pen the new script with Fright Night producers Michael Gaeta and Alison Rosenzweig signed on as producers. But while the first film has a cult following, this new film seems to be going in a new direction and with a film like Jacob’s Ladder, as Alex Maidy points out, those in charge of the new version can do a lot of different things since the film isn’t as well known as other horror films.
