Actress Mary Elizabeth Winstead has been cast in two indie films, reports Deadline
Winstead is on board with Faults, her husband Riley Stearns’ next directorial project. The actress will play a young cult member whose parents hire an expert to deprogram her, but the expert begins to think they might be more of a threat than the cult.
The first of the two independent films is Faults. Her husband, Riley Stearns, has announced that it will be the next film that he directs. She will be playing a “a young cult member whose parents hire an expert to deprogram” in the Snoot Entertainment-produced film that is expected to start filming later in the year.
The second film is currently untitled but will be directed by rising star Chris Messina, who stars with Mindy Kaling on The Mindy Project. It will be his directorial debut. Derek Luke (The Americans) is also attached to the film. At the moment, the actress will star as an environmental lawyer who becomes a single mother to her son when her husband abandons the family.
Winstead will next be seen in The Spectacular Now. She was previously cast in the Cinemax pilot, Quarry and will release an album as well.
