Fox announced on Friday night that they would indeed be coming to next week’s Comic-Con in San Diego and that they aren’t going to skimp of the surprises. Not only is Hugh Jackman and The Wolverine coming, but Dawn of the Planet of the Apes is also going to be a part of the panel.
But Fox teased a third surprise that they weren’t going to spoil early, which means fans are left speculating as to what the studio has up their sleeve for Comic-Con.
The obvious and most likely surprise is that Fox will be bringing footage from X-Men: Days of Future Past as the film is set to hit theaters next summer and films typically hit Comic-Con a year in advance to preview footage and start hyping the film’s release. If that’s the case and Fox is indeed bringing X-Men to San Diego, then the next question would be who from the film would attend the panel.
A dream panel would consist of James McAvoy, Micheal Fassbender, Jennifer Lawrence and director Bryan Singer, who is no stranger to Comic-Con. That could be stretching it but if X-Men is coming to Comic-Con, at least one of those names will be on the panel with Singer being the most likely choice.
However, the other option for Fox would be, as ScreenCrush pointed out, to announce and unveil the cast of The Fantastic Four, which Fox is rebooting for 2015. No one from the cast has been announced yet and Comic-Con would be the perfect place to make such an announcement and instantly boost hype for the film which should begin shooting pretty soon.
Of course, we won’t know for sure what Fox is planning on doing but they no doubt have our attention, which means the surprise better pay off when it happens.
