DreamWorks is coming right back with it’s animation films as the release of Turbo this week is going to be followed with the sequel to the studio’s wildly successful film How To Train Your Dragon. The main cast is back and DreamWorks released a teaser trailer today that will likely be shown ahead of Turbo when it hits theaters.
It’s not at all surprising that DreamWorks as produced a sequel to How To Train Your Dragon as the film was a smash hit at both the box office and with critics alike. The first movie grossed over $500 million at the box office and was received with almost perfect critical acclaim as well as an Oscar nomination for Best Animated Feature.
But the biggest question is whether or not the sequel can live up to the surprise hit the first installment was as the element of flying under the radar is gone. But if DreamWorks can churn out a hit with Turbo as well as How to Train Your Dragon 2, the studio may be in a position to give Pixar a run for it’s money as the king of animation in Hollywood.
It’s been a summer of animation domination so far from the likes of Pixar, Sony and hopefully DreamWorks, which means the playing field is once again wide open for a new king to possibly emerge on the scene.
