Of course they are.
Because following up Sharknado with Sharknado 2 would be way to predictable and boring. Were you one of the 1.4 million viewers of last week’s SyFy Channel B-movie extravaganza, Sharknado? Did you instantly think to yourself the second it was over: “My God. A sequel needs to be developed for this yesterday!”
Well, my friends, this could be the movie for you.
The film is Ghost Shark. And while it isn’t the direct sequel you were hoping for, SyFy’s newest schlock-fest certainly carries on the spirit (I’ll be here all week) of Sharknado proudly.
Oh, and the idea for this picture was culled from the mind of a seven year old.
Here’s the trailer:
The made for TV movie will premiere on SyFy Channel on August 22nd, just in time to catch the end of summer. But will it be a social media hit like this previous film was? Possibly. I’d expect tweet counts to be on the rise, but I’d bet that even fewer people will actually be watching the movie. How is that possible, you ask? I’m not entirely sure (it would involve single users to completely saturate the twitter feed with Ghost Shark references), but it would be a safe bet.
Will you be tuning into Ghost Shark when it premieres next month? Do you think these B-movie revivals are good/bad for television? let us know…
