It’s been a big day for Star Wars “news” as it’s becoming very apparent that the rumor mill is churning when it comes to information leaking out about what J.J. Abrams has in store for he latest installment in the Star Wars saga. The headline rumor of the day involved a report from The Latino Review which stated Ryan Gosling and Zac Efron were under consideration to play Luke Skywalker’s son in the upcoming film.

Gosling’s representatives have since shot that rumor down, at least half of it, but tossed in with the Gosling/Efron rumor was news that Leonardo DiCaprio apparently passed on a role in the film to focus on ‘Robotech’.
It would appear that Leonardo DiCaprio has his reasons for opting out of Star Wars: Episode VII. Apparently the busy actor is extremely interested in landing a role in the proposed Robotech movie. Since he can’t do both, DiCaprio decided to skip out on Star Wars.
Having swung and missed big on an earlier rumor, it’s okay to question the accuracy of the report but it was reported elsewhere so it may hold water. What matters most though is that DiCaprio won’t be appearing in Star Wars, and if he passed on the role it would mark the second time in his career he has found himself on the outside of the Star Wars universe looking in.
When George Lucas was hunting for his Anakin Skywalker back in 2000, DiCaprio’s name was apparently on the list along with the likes of Heath Ledger, Ryan Phillippe, Paul Walker and Colin Hanks. The first time around DiCaprio passed on the role and it appears he’s passing again on Star Wars.
