Bryan Cranston considering role of Lex Luthor in Batman vs. Superman

I previously have mentioned the idea of Bryan Cranston playing the role of Lex Luthor in Batman vs. Superman. Now we have a first interview where Cranston admits that he would consider the role of the Superman villain.

“Give me a call,” Cranston tells Metro. “I like Lex Luthor. I think he’s misunderstood. He’s a loveable, sweet man.”

He made the comments while smiling so it’s possible that Cranston’s people are already talking with producers about the Man of Steel follow up.

There is one person that would not be happy if Cranston took on the role of Luthor. His wife is not “so keen on the bald head.”

Last week, it was reported that Mark Strong was up for the role. Strong, of course, has been typecast as a villain.

In the Richard Donnor film, Gene Hackman played the role of Luthor. Kevin Spacey took on the role in Superman Returns, the 2006 film directed by Bryan Singer.

A decision on who will be cast as the villain will likely be announced later this year or early next year since a release date of 2015 is expected for the sequel. It’s likely that DC Comics might even wait to announce their casting at Comic-Con next summer.
