Friday Night Lights, Famous Jett Jackson Actor Lee Thompson Young Commits Suicide

Lee Thompson Young, who made a name for himself on the Disney Channel show Famous Jett Jackson as well as starring in films like Friday Night Lights was found dead in his apartment on Monday by his landlord, per a report from TMZ. According to Young’s publicist, the 29 year old actor committed suicide

Per the report from TMZ:

Lee’s publicist confirms the actor killed himself, telling TMZ, “It is with great sadness that I announce that Lee Thompson Young tragically took his own life this morning … Lee was more than just a brilliant young actor, he was a wonderful and gentle soul who will be truly missed.”

Young currently stars on the TNT show Rizzoli & Isles and seemed to be getting back into the limelight. Back in the late 90s as a teenager, Lee Thompson Young made a name for himself as Jett Jackson in The Famous Jett Jackson for Disney Channel where he played a normal student who happens to be a massive television star.

He then looked to breakthrough in Hollywood with a role in Peter Berg’s 2004 football drama Friday Night Lights. He had gone some years without scoring a major role and never took off the way it looked like he might when he was on the rise in the early part of the 2000s.

No further details were released about the death of the 29 year old actor.
