'Batman vs. Superman': Casting Call for Batman's Love Interest

Bruce Wayne is a playboy. That much we can all agree on, right?

But for all his money, fast cars, panache and debonair, he hasn’t had too much luck with the ladies in his history. Certainly in the film world of Batman, this track record continued all the way until The Dark Knight Rises. In that movie, its at least alluded to that Wayne finally was able to settle down, but then again, some people maintain that Rises‘ final scene is really a figment of Alfred’s imagination; he’s seeing only what he wants to see and not what actually is…because you know, Batman was, like, at the epicenter of a nuclear blast.

Director Zack Snyder seems to want to give Batman just one more chance at love according to a new press release (via Latino Review). Superman/Kal-El/Clark Kent (Henry Cavill) has his Lois Lane (Amy Adams) after all. It’s only fair.

LR is reporting that the release advertises for “someone in their late 20s and are open to all ethnicities…. They’re being very specific and looking for an actress who is both tall and possesses physicality.”

Ben Affleck, who happens to be playing Batman in the upcoming Batman vs. Superman film and all foreseeable Batman properties, in case you hadn’t heard, happens to be 41. In fact, the casting rumors all the way up to Affleck’s casting mentioned how casting directors for the Man of Steel sequel where specifically looking for “older” candidates for the Batman role. So this twenty year gap between hero and lover was always intended.

The casting call doesn’t name what role it is scouting for, but rumor has it that Wonder Woman herself is indeed a possibility.

One thing seems to be certain: Batman vs. Superman will be a dense film at best and overcrowded at worst. Not only will Clark Kent’s own actions be in play (this being the sequel to Man of Steel, one would expect the film to revolve around him after-all), but Bruce Wayne will need an introduction to this new world, a back story and now his love interest (not to mention Lane’s role with Kent) will need some solid screen time in what is sure to be another two and a half hour long picture.

And the fact that he even has a love interest in this film hints that this movie will be Batman vs. Superman for about thirty minutes and then be Batman & Superman vs. Lex Luther for the next two hours.

What do y’all think of the new casting call? who fits the description in your eyes? How will the relationship between Batman, Superman and the women in their lives play out?
