If you were waiting for Bill & Ted 3 to hit theaters, we have some most bogus news for you. Despite there being a script written for the film, star Keanu Reeves recently told MTV News that ‘darkness’ is keeping the film from being made and that the process to get the long awaited film made isn’t coming along well.
“It’s a long story. There’s lots of subterfuge and conspiracy theories. There’s a whole thing… I might have to do one of those independent press, conspiracy, other-name kind of [statements] explaining why it hasn’t happened yet, because it’s pretty dark out there. “There is [a script], there’s all sorts of stuff and it just can’t — it’s just — there’s darkness out there that’s keeping it from happening… It’s that part of the story where it’s looking grim. It’s the dark period of the idea!”
Reeves is currently in his home country of Canada attending the Toronto Film Festival with his movie Man of Tai Chi when he was asked, yet again, about the future of Bill & Ted 3. There have been rumors floating around about the film for years now and it seems wherever Keanu goes, so do the questions about when fans can expect to see the third film in the time traveling stoner comedy.
It’s been 24 years since Bill & Ted’s Excellent Adventure first hit theaters and 22 since the 1991 sequel, Bill & Ted’s Bogus Journey. Since then, Keanu has gone to The Matrix, George Carlin has died and rumors of third film have kept fans hoping for more hijinks from their favorite duo.
Still, Reeves was not optimistic in his reports about the progress of the film which definitely not excellent.
