There are few events each year that capture the world like the Super Bowl does. No matter who is playing or where the event takes place, millions of viewers worldwide tune in to catch the big game, but preparation for the Super Bowl begins long before we know the two teams that will battle for the Lombardi Trophy.
Each year Doritos churns out classic commercials but what you might not know is that all of their Super Bowl commercials are made by independent filmmakers including those still in film school. This year is no different except that the prize for producing a winning commercial is a set visit to Avengers: Age of Ultron and a chat with director Joss Whedon.
Comic book legend Stan Lee is a part of the promotion and spoke about contest:
“Marvel is all about creating unique characters, telling intriguing stories and engaging audiences in the boldest ways possible, which is what the Crash the Super Bowl contest does for Doritos fans and makes this collaboration so powerful. The winners of this contest will have the incredible opportunity to not only see their work broadcast to millions on the Super Bowl, but also become a part of the Marvel family and work with some of the most dynamic talents in the entertainment industry today.”
Submissions can begin to be entered starting at the beginning of November. This year’s Super Bowl will be held at MetLife Stadium in New Jersey, the home of the New York Giants and New York Jets. There’s a chance those two teams could meet, but one thing that is certain is that Marvel may play a big hand in the Super Bowl over the next few years, and one lucky filmmaker will get the chance of a lifetime.
