Sons of Anarchy: RoboCop Star Peter Weller Directed Tonight's Episode 'One One Six'

Sons of Anarchy is going to have to follow up last week’s episode with something incredible this week as fans everywhere are still reeling from what happened at the end of the season premiere episode. The job of following the premiere is on that falls on the shoulders of a familiar face to moviegoers and is a face that Sons of Anarchy fans will get to know well too. RoboCop himself, Peter Weller, is directing tonight’s episode of Sons of Anarchy.

Weller shot to fame with the sci-fi back int he late 80s when he stepped into the role of the titular character in RoboCop but he’s been sticking around film and television pretty consistently since his RoboCop days.

He never transitioned into the mainstream world of movies the way some actors might have, rather Weller stuck with the crowd that had embraced him as RoboCop and took role after role in sic-fi films. His most notable roles outside of RoboCop included roles in David Cronenberg’s Naked Lunch and the independent film Ivans XTC in which he grabbed a nomination for Best Actor at the 2002 Independent Spirit Awards, losing to Dennis Quaid.

More recently, audiences will have recognized him from his role as the misguided villain Alexander Marcus in J.J. Abrams Star Trek: Into Darkness.

Weller’s addition to the cast of Sons of Anarchy only adds to his long resume of pleasing loyal fans of a franchise and it’s safe to assume that most fans of Sons of Anarchy are already familiar with Weller’s work. Tonight everyone will become familiar with his work not only in front of the camera but behind it as well.
