Ever since Seinfeld went off the air back in 1998, fans of the show have been clamoring to get updates on their favorite group of fictional friends. Despite being a show about nothing at all, Seinfeld has gone down as one of the best reviewed and most referenced show ever, and still today we can’t get away from the grip the show has on us.
But for those waiting for an official reunion of the show, Jerry Seinfeld has repeatedly refused to get the cast back together for either a cheesy primetime reunion or a revival of the show. Say what you will about the direction of the show in it’s later years, Seinfeld knew when to go out on top and it’s a rarity in the world of TV.
The wait for an official reunion continues but Seinfeld again teased fans with what he thinks the group is up to today.
“They’re gonna be somewhat dysfunctional, as we remember them,” Seinfeld said during his cover shoot for The Hollywood Reporter magazine. “I imagine there’ll be some kids. Some divorces. Social situations, is what I’d imagine for the four of them. George would probably have a wife and kids — very normal, suburban. And he would be tortured.”
This isn’t the first time Seinfeld has mentioned the characters created in his hit show and it likely won’t be the last. We had an unofficial official reunion of the cast on Larry David’s Curb Your Enthusiasm, and frankly it was the best Seinfeld-esqe reunion we could have hoped for.
Still, don’t hold your breath for an actual reunion anytime soon, because if there’s one thing Seinfeld knows its when to leave a good thing alone.
