One of the lasting images from the original Dumb and Dumber was Harry and Lloyd’s classic ’84 Sheepdog car which was a van that looked like a sheepdog. But as production on Dumb and Dumber 2 continues, so far it looks like there’s a pretty good chance the classic car won’t be making an appearance.
We got some new set photos today from Jim Carrey of Harry and Lloyd riding on a bicycle and while it’s far too early to say this is their main mode of transportation, it’s the first time we’ve considered the duo getting around in something other than the ’84 Sheepdog.
So far we’ve seen no hint of the ’84 Sheepdog and if you remember in the original film, Jim Carrey trades the car for a minibike he and Harry then ride to Colorado.
Of course, just because we haven’t yet seen the iconic ’84 Sheepdog doesn’t mean we won’t ever see it again (so you’re saying there’s a chance) as filming has just gotten underway and we will likely be seeing much more as the weeks press on.
Still, really the whole reason Dumb and Dumber 2 exists is because of nostalgia and why go back to reviving old characters if you’re going to sever one of the most iconic things about them? That being said, just the fact that Harry and Lloyd are back seems to be enough for now and the updates we continue to get through production will soften the blow of how different Dumb and Dumber 2 will be 20 years after we fell in love with the original.
