We are just about two months away from the release of Peter Jackson’s The Hobbit 2, or as it’s better known to fans The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug. Yesterday saw the release of brand new teaser banners but today fans of the series have been gifted with the release of the third teaser trailer.
We were hoping for brand new footage and a lot of it, which is exactly what we got in the new 2 minute teaser trailer.
Martin Freeman returns as Bilbo Baggins on his journey through Middle Earth in the sequel to 2012’s The Hobbit. While the first film in Peter Jackson’s prequel trilogy wasn’t anything that set the world on fire — as it drew a rather lukewarm reception from critics — the hop is that The Hobbit 2 follows up on everything fans wanted to see in the first film.
Of course this all could have been avoided if they had just made The Hobbit one film, but that’s a different argument for a different day.
Benedict Cumberbatch lends his talents to the new film as the voice of Smaug, the dragon we saw ever so briefly in The Hobbit. We also will see Orlando Bloom return to the series as Legolas, reprising his role from the original Lord of the Rings movies. More footage and trailers is expected to be released over the next two months as The Hobbit 2 hits theaters this December.
