A few weeks ago, another Star Wars Episode VII casting surfaced but it was tossed in the pile of rumors we had already heard but didn’t totally believe. But Saoirse Ronan, who was rumored to have auditioned for a part in the new J.J. Abrams film Star Wars Episode VII has confirmed that she indeed is in the running for a major part and read for an unknown role.
The 19-year-old Irish actress, whose new film How I Live Now opens this week, has confirmed rumours that she has auditioned for a role – before modestly adding “so has everyone”. … When questioned on the subject of the film by Sky News – the Atonement star said bosses would “chop off her head with a light-sabre” if she revealed any more.
While the role she auditioned for is unknown and will likely stay that way for the foreseeable future, it’s likely that she is up for the role of Han Solo and Princess Leia’s daughter.
Ronan confirming the rumor is the biggest piece of Star Wars news we’ve heard in a long time as most information that trickles in is either rumor or entirely fabricated fiction. But with filming just months away from beginning, Abrams and Lucasfilm will need to get a cast grouped together, and Ronan looks to be the first major addition.
