The first new Star Wars trailer was released last night and fans were doubly disappointed. Not only was the trailer not for J.J. Abrams live action revival, it was under twenty seconds of absolutely useless information. The trailer was for the upcoming animated series Star Wars: Rebels but the trailer offered up a bunch of barking and no galactic biting.
Here’s a quick synopsis of Star Wars: Rebels in case you didn’t get enough excitement from the trailer:
The action-filled series is set between the events of Episode III and IV — an era spanning almost two decades never-before explored on-screen.Star Wars Rebels takes place in a time where the Empire is securing its grip on the galaxy and hunting down the last of the Jedi Knights as a fledgling rebellion against the Empire is taking shape.
While it’s not anything related to the live action films, Star Wars: Rebels is following the critically acclaimed Star Wars: Clone Wars which aired on Cartoon Network and won the approval of fans everywhere. The stories balanced both children’s tales and blended them with adult themes, characters and film references that made for Star Wars enjoyment on all levels.
That’s the hope for Star Wars: Rebels but so far all we can go off of is what we’re hearing and judging from the trailer, talk is very cheap.
