We’ve all been waiting for any and all information we can get on the new Star Wars film directed by J.J. Abrams. It’s no secret that rumors about the production have been flying around for months now, only seeming to be intensifying as we get closer and closer to the scheduled January production start date.

Lucasfilm is getting in on all the fun and they hype, teasing big news without actually delivering anything at all — kind of like all the rumors that have been flying around about names like Daniel Day-Lewis, Benedict Cumberbatch and Soairse Ronan.

Today, Lucasfilm posted a teaser trailer for Star Wars on it’s official YouTube page — no not the Star Wars Episode VII trailer everyone is waiting for. Rather a teaser trailer for the original 1977 Star Wars was posted by the Lucasfilm account.

While these seems like an incredibly mean tease by Lucasfilm, Furious Fanboys pointed out that this could be a lead in for a massive announcement by Lucasfilm.

Some feel that they could just be jerking fans’ chains, but this is an official release of the very first Star Wars trailer. It sounds like they’re trying to send some kind of message, such as showing fans how it all begins before it all begins again…

That’s the hope with the tease of the 1977 trailer, but fans are still stuck in the same spot as they were before today in not knowing much about the new Star Wars film but dying to find something out.
