James Cameron is the Kanye west of filmmaking. He knows he’s good and he’s not afraid to let you know that he knows this. He also happens to have his ducks in a row, proof of this being his rigorous schedule that has led to more filmmaking innovations than one could hope to create.
That schedule will pick right back up in 2014 as Avatar star Sam Worthington says Avatar 2 will begin filming in October 2014. Worthington showed up on an Australian radio station today where he dropped the bomb that Avatar fans have been waiting to hear since the idea of a sequel came up earlier this year.
“We are going to start this time next year and we will do two, three and four,” Worthington told Australia radio station NovaFM. “In one shot, we’ll do them simultaneously. I’ll be grateful if it finishes.”
We knew a second film was coming and we also know that Avatar 2 will be followed by two more films. What we don’t know is how good the films will be, even if everyone involved in the original are coming back.
We can expect more tie-bits from Avatar 2 to roll out in the time between now and the reported October 2014 production start date. For those doubting Worthington’s report, if the film started shooting when the actor claims it will, it would put it on track for it’s 2916 release date.
