Recently, Marvel has again begun to tease future projects that they plan on releasing over the next few years and one of those projects in development is the long awaited big screen debut for Black Panther. Already a list of names are bing circulated among internet wonks but one name that pops up more than a few times is Thor 2 star Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje.
According to a recent interview with ScreenCrush.com, Akinnuoye-Agbaje said that he loves the character of Black Panther but doesn’t have any information about who will play the character.
It’s been a favorite character of mine as a child, and I’ve always said it would be great to play, but honestly I’m just happy to be a part of the Marvel world. When I got the call to be in ‘Thor,’ you could say yes or no, and it was always a definite yes without any qualms whatsoever because I just think these are the people that make these movies best. And the chance to be in business with them is a great opportunity, and I just think it’s the beginning of a fruitful relationship.
What will happen? We’ll see. But just to play any character in the Marvel world, to me, is a great honor.
It’s hard to see him being able to crossover into another superhero realm after already showing up in Thor 2, since Marvel is serious about it’s continuity. Still, he’s a talented actor that could more than pull off the role if his name begins to be seriously considered for a movie that should have come out years ago but is finally now getting some attention.
