For the past few weeks, Star Wars fans have been waiting for some big news to drop and it’s been teased that this is going to happen at some point in the near future. According to Jedi News, via JoBlo, that news might involve Harrison Ford and a multi-picture deal to appear in Star Wars Episode 7 and beyond.
Jedi News posted a report that stated Ford met with Disney to see about his character and the development of Han Solo over the course of J.J Abrams new set of films and apparently Ford liked what he saw.
A verbal agreement with Ford to play Han Solo once more has been in principle place since before the Disney deal. Over the course of this summer financial settlements were reached. The outstanding points that had dragged on but are now resolved are:
Ford wanted to see the synopsis for his character’s development over more than just Episode 7. He saw this in August and is happy with the story arc. … Disney wanted a multi film deal with Ford which transcends Episode 7. This has now been agreed.
Now before you get too excited about this, Jedi News is quick to point out that until this is confirmed by Disney and LucasFilm we all need to pump the brakes.
Still, this does sound like something that Ford would do in order to see if the new set of films are right for him and it’s not like he’d need a ton of convincing to sign on to reprise a role from earlier in his career.
Is this the big announcement from LucasFilm we’ve been waiting for? We will likely find out in a few weeks when the first trailer for Star Wars Episode 7 is rumored to be released.
