Tina Fey Returning to NBC, New Comedy Series 'Tooken' Gets Series Order

Tina Fey has been busy over the past decade owning NBC with her hit Emmy winning series 30 Rock but the comedy icon isn’t staying away from the game long. According to The Hollywood Reporter, Fey will be returning to NBC and television with a new series that she’s producing with long time producing partner Robert Carlock.

The new series, which doesn’t yet have an official title, will be a single-camera comedy starring former The Office star Ellie Kemper who is starting a new life in New York after escaping a doomsday cult.

Fey and Carlock released a joint statement announcing the return to NBC and their excitement to once again be a part of the comedy lineup.

“We have been lucky enough to work at NBC for our entire careers (except when Robert worked at The Dana Carvey Show, now available on DVD) and we thank Bob [Greenblatt] and Jen [Salke] for their continued support,”

NBC is hailing the new show as a signature comedy for the network and stated their excitement to have Fey back at NBC in some form. It’s likely that Fey will make a few guest appearances on the show, but for the most part it will serve as a vehicle for Kemper, one of the fastest rising stars in television comedy at the moment.

The show still needs a title but NBC is slating the show to hit the airwaves in the fall of 2014.
