We’re just a few weeks away from the release of The Hunger Games: Catching Fire but already we may be adding to the Hunger Games fun. According to Lionsgate CEO Jon Feltheimer, who spoke on a conference call this morning, we could very well be seeing as many as two Hunger Games theme parks pop up somewhere in the world.
Variety reports that Feltheimer gave very few details on the talks to add Hunger Games theme parks but did mention that they have been discussed for two different territories. Where those locations are — whether inside the United States, outside or spilt — is yet to be known.
But what we do know is that the success of the books and movies isn’t a joke and expansion seems to be the name of the game here. With two more Hunger Games movies on the way, chances are a theme park won’t be built in time for either release, although the second half of the final film could be aligned with the opening of a park depending on the official release date.
That said, the idea of adding a Hunger Games theme park — two to be exact — just goes to show how popular the franchise really is and gives you an indication of the amount of money it has raked in through just three books and a single movie.
