Saturday Night Live Hilariously Roasts Kanye West and Kim Kardashian's Relationship (Video)

Last night on Saturday Night Live, the roasting of pop culture was at it’s finest as the SNL writing staff went all out for host Lady Gaga and the audience at home benefited greatly. Not only did Gaga go after herself on numerous occasions, but the SNL crew went after America’s least liked darling couple — Kanye West and Kim Kardashian.

For most intelligent Americans, Kanye West is only tolerable when he’s singing and producing brilliant beats and lyrics. Kardashian is — well, she’s never tolerable and that was the point of the SNL sketch last night called “Waking Up with Kimye”.

Kimye, of course, is the idiotic pet name that jealous couch dwellers have given the power couple  but the SNL staff went after not only the name but the very dynamic of the relationship that everyone with the intellect of a 12 year old can’t seem to get enough of on a daily basis.

The sketch saw Nasim Pedrad play Kardashian and she again carried a large amount of the show’s first official sketch for the third straight week. Her streak dates back to the Edward Norton hosted show in which she played a young student who revolts against a volunteer cop, and the last new episode we had where she played an inspirational speaker. Pedrad is flourishing and it’s just great to see.

he gem of the sketch though was Jay Pharaoh as Kanye West as he nailed everything from his speech pattern to the shrieks and yells heard in the rapper’s hit song ‘Black Skinhead’. The sketch’s sharp tone was really highlighted by two moments, one in which Kim Kardashian shows off a macaroni necklace she made, and another in which Kanye rants about how between the two of them they have numerous Grammy and other awards — the joke being that they’re all his an Kardashian has accomplished little in her “career”.

It was a brilliant sketch and again showed why we turn to SNL when we want their razor sharp wit to slice through pop culture and the things many people loathe.
