Last night, Oscar winning director Quentin Tarantino made an interesting appearance on Jay Leno’s Tonight Show where he showed up to plug a new comic book series based around his franchise Kill Bill. But while he was there, the self-professed film geek dropped a major detail about his new film he’s working on which will be a follow up to his Oscar winning film Django Unchained.
Tarantino announced that while he couldn’t say much about the film — and we really wouldn’t want him to anyways — he confessed that after writing Django Unchained and filming it he fell in love with westerns again and has decided that he will remain in the genre for his next picture.
Mind you, this won’t be a sequel to Django Unchained, rather a completely new idea that might not even be set i the same era. Knowing Tarantino, he could go throughout all periods of the Old West, even including an era more towards the industrial era where America was booming and becoming more modernized.
We never know what to expect with Tarantino which means even with knowing he’s making a western again we’re all still flying blind. That’s the way it should be though as he’s one of the last filmmakers in the craft because he just loves doing it and in case you’ve missed the last 20 years, he’s pretty damn good at it too.
