For years we’ve been waiting for NBA superstar LeBron James to just stop fronting and star in Space Jam 2. But while the two-time NBA champion isn’t fully turning his focus away form basketball and to the world of acting, that’s not stopping him from dabbling in that game anyways.
According to Variety, the Miami Heat superstar will be joining real life best friend Kevin hart on the big screen in a movie called Ballers. It’s not Space Jam 2 and it actually sounds worse than that movie Kevin Durant did which was a rip-off of the less than stellar Like Mike.
In the movie, which Hart will be co-writing in addition to starring in, James will play the older brother of Hart’s character and will be stretched to his acting limits by being cast as an NBA superstar. Hart plays the younger – obviously much shorter — brother who wants to prove he’s as good as his superstar brother. The movie will revolve around that conflict as Hart’s character attempts to prove his worth as a fantasy basketball charity event.
James joins fellow Miami Heat star Dwyane Wade in the entertainment game as Wade just recently sold a pilot pitch to FOX for a comedy show based on his life as a single dad. Both concepts sound a little lame but the power of the NBA fan market will determine if James and Wade are as big of hits on the big screen as they are on the court.
