Saturday Night Live Review: Was Jimmy Fallon funny on SNL?

Tonight marked the night when Jimmy Fallon and Justin Timberlake took over Saturday Night Live for what we were hoping would be the best episode of the season so far. The expectations were pretty high for the duo and they couldn’t have come through any better than they did on tonight’s show. Not only were both Fallon and Timberlake hilarious, they turned in perhaps the best show we’ve seen in a few seasons as the laughs rolled in and the devil may care spirit of SNL was restored like we haven’t see recently.

For the first time all season long, mostly every single sketch was a hit, even if they weren’t all the most solid of concepts. The highlights of the show included a sketch spoofing Family Feud where Jimmy Fallon played Jim Parsons from The Big Bang Theory while Timberlake played a hilarious version of Jimmy Fallon. Timberlake almost lost it as well when he saw Fallon duck under a table to contain himself from laughing, and right there we got the tone of the night in a nutshell.

Some people may not be totally impressed with what we saw, but everything about the show was incredible. From the energy level of Fallon all night long to Timberlake’s two drastically different musical performances — one high octane and the other toned way down to a subdued acoustic ballad — the show was on fire and all over the place in the best of ways.

It was the best show we’ve seen recently and anyone who tries to convince you otherwise is just being an SNL Scrooge.
