We’re just weeks away from the Sochi Olympics which means that Jimmy Fallon’s debut as the new host of the Tonight Show is just around the corner. Ever since it was announced this summer, fans of Fallon and of the Tonight Show have been wondering how well the former SNL star will do when he steps into Jay Leno’s shoes.
NBC released the first promo for Fallon’s debut on Saturday and plan on teasing it all throughout the NFL’s Wild Card Weekend and into the coming weeks ahead of his debut in February.
Fallon has carved out a very decent post-SNL career for himself and is well equipped to hold things down in place of Leno on the show. We won’t find out until February how he actually does but NBC is well behind this move and aren’t trying to make light of the debut in any way shape or form.
That’s partially what makes this promo stand out, as no matter how goofy Fallon is or how popular his late night format is, the Tonight Show is serious and historic business and it’s not going to be the Jimmy Fallon Show, it’s the Tonight Show. The shoes Fallon is filling are massive and iconic and fans are eager to see if he can live up to the expectations.
