It’s been a big start of the year for apps that stream movies and television shows. After the release of FOXNow and the announcement that The Simpsons will be coming to online streaming in August 2014, another app service has announced expansion to new devices.

HBO GO, which currently allows HBO subscribers to watch shows and movies that air not he premium channel on their mobile devices, has announced that the app will soon be coming to the Next-Gen Sony Playstation devices in 2014.

Currently, users can only watch HBO GO on their iPad, iPhone, tablets or laptop computers. With the expansion to PS3 and PS4, the app will be more readily available to users around the world and it will be much more accessible and easy to use.

While we all like to take HBO on the go with us and watch shows like Game of Thrones and Boardwalk Empire when we’re out and about, part of what makes Netflix so amazing is the ability to watch it on your TV. This seems to be a bit of a conundrum as HBO is a television channel that you primarily watch on your TV, but having HBO GO available on Playstation devices means that users will be able to watch entire seasons of shows they can’t watch on regular OnDemand services.

Expect to see HBO GO available in the Playstation Store this upcoming summer.
