The Golden State Warriors are one of the youngest teams in basketball, but they also happen to be one of the best as well. But just because they have a 25-year old point guard and a young core of players built around him, doesn’t mean the team isn’t savvy on pop culture from their childhoods.
After a recent game, the Warriors welcomed in comedian Dave Chappelle who hung out with the players and struck up a conversation with star point guard Stephen Curry.
The moment seems a little odd in that Chappelle is so much older than the players on the Warriors roster, and Chappelle isn’t as popular as he once was. However, when The Chappelle Show was popular on Comedy Central back in the early 2000s, Curry and his young teammates were either in middle school or just entering high school, which was a key demographic for Chappelle’s show.
So while the scene seems a little odd, it’s not that strange when you remember how big Chappelle was with the younger generation back in the day.
