One of the most heart-warming, quirky and downright amazing movies that is making waves at award shows is the Spike Jonze film Her. The movie takes the concept of internet dating and quirks it up by having Joaquin Phoenix’s character fall in love with a voice on his phone.
The voice belongs to Scarlett Johansson, who many thought deserved an Oscar nomination for her role that doesn’t actually see her appear. But now someone has re-cut the trailer for the movie and replaced Johansson’s voice with that of Philip Seymour Hoffman.
We probably should have expected this to happen, and it won’t be the last time that we see the trailer for Her re-cut with various voices.
But this will be a hard re-cut to top, as Hoffman’s voice fits seamlessly with the action unfolding on screen in the trailer. There will be more parodies like this, but this one takes the cake.
It also shows us yet again how the entire context of a film can change by making one simple edit. We saw Mrs. Doubtfire re-cut as a horror movie by making subtle changes, and now we have this amazing re-cut Her trailer to watch over and over again.
