Gotham TV series to cast The Penguin as first major villain

The TV series Gotham is starting to pick up some steam as the casting search for filling out roles has begun. So far no real announcements have been made, although it’s widely believed that Donal Logue will be playing Detective Harvey Bullock on the series.

Another major character from the Batman universe is being cast at the moment as well. According to El Mayimbe from Latino-Review, Gotham is currently looking to cast the role of The Penguin.

No names have yet been mentioned for the role, but we can probably expect an up and comer to be playing the part. It’s unclear in what form the villains on Gotham will appear, as it’s been established that this will be a prequel to the entire Batman mythos.

This could mean that we see Oswald Cobblepot at a younger age, although no matter when he appears on the series, he’ll already be deformed as he was born that way in the comic books.

More casting news is expected to be trickling out, as Gotham  is eyeing a possibly fall 2014 or early winter 2015 premiere date for its pilot.
