Marvel confirms Captain America 3, hires pair of directors

This summer will see the release of Captain American: Winter Solider, but while the sequel has yet to hit theaters, Marvel isn’t waiting sound on confirming a third. According to Variety, Marvel has already hired directors for Captain America 3, which means we can definitely expect yet another Captain America film in the next few years.

Marvel is still focusing on “Captain America: The Winter Soldier,” which arrives in April, but sources tell Variety that Anthony and Joe Russo will be back in the director’s chair for a third installment, even though it hasn’t yet been officially greenlit.

Variety states that negotiations between the sides won’t take place until Captain America: Winter Solider is officially in the can and ready for release, but the new is very significant in that it means Marvel is committing long-term to people not named Joss Whedon.

No release date was given for Captain American 3, but it’s likely that the film will shoot for a summer 2017 release date which may put it in competition with a Justice League movie from Warner Bros.
