Perhaps the biggest casting bombshell of the new year has dropped with word that Warner Bros has cast Jesse Eisenberg to play Lex Luthor in the upcoming Batman vs. Superman movie. The film won’t come out until May 6, 2016, but the Oscar nominated actor will be stepping into a role previously filled by Gene Hackman and Kevin Spacey.
Twitter went nuts when the announcement was made, with some agreeing with the casting while others could help but laugh while tweeting their disgust of the choice. Nevertheless, Twitter went wild and the fanboys reacted almost immediately to the news.
If nothing else, Jesse Eisenberg will be the most punchable Lex Luthor ever.

Please excuse me, while I die of laughter imagining the #ManofSteel trailer with a Jesse Eisenberg voiceover.

I like the Jesse Eisenberg casting. Think about it — Lex Luthor today would be more Mark Zuckerberg, less Bill Gates.

Jesse Eisenberg is Lex Luthor! I know what we’re all thinking. Will he part with those luxurious locks?

Look I like Jesse Eisenberg and I know him, Queens kid but I just can’t see him as Lex Luthor. I could see Jeremy Irons as Alfred in MOS 2.

Is it April Fool’s Day? Surely Jesse Eisenberg isn’t playing Lex Luthor.

Jesse Eisenberg is a good actor. I don’t really see him as Lex Luthor though… More of an awkward hero than a diabolical villain
