One of the staples of the NFL on FOX pregame show has been Terry Bradshaw, but the iconic Pittsburgh Steelers quarterback will be sitting out coverage of the big game today after the passing of his father. According to Variety, as well as other reports, Bradshaw will miss all FOX Super Bowl coverage on Sunday afternoon and evening to tend the to death of his father William Bradshaw.
FOX Sports released a statement that sent their condolences to Bradshaw.
“On behalf of everyone at FOX Sports, we want to extend our deepest sympathy to Terry, his mother Novis, brothers Gary and Craig and the entire Bradshaw family,”
Bradshaw will be replaced on the FOX coverage by new Hall of fame inductee Michael Strahan. Previously the FOX crew consisted of just Curt Menefee, Howie Long, Jimmy Johnson and then Bradshaw but Strahan has been brought in to following the tragic death of Bradshaw’s father.
Originally Strahan was covering the red carpet at MetLife stadium which was meant to watch fans, players and celebrities enter the stadium leading up to kickoff, but Strahan’s new role as Bradshaw’s replacement means that FOX Sports host and play-by-play announcer Chrisy Myers will be joining Charissa Thompson outside MetLIfe stadium.
